G-20 summit: Upgradation work of Narbal-Gulmarg Road to finish within days: R&B

Budgam. May 14: Ahead of the G-20 summit, the roads and buildings department is going to complete all the upgradation works of the 27 kilometres long Narbal-Gulmarg Road.
Similarly, the three municipal committees, which include Magam, Tangmarg, and Kunzer, have also completed the various works for the beautification of Narbal-Gulmarg Road.
An official from the Roads and Buildings Department told Rising Kashmir that the Upgradation work of the 27-kilometre roads from Narbal to Baba Reshi Junction will be completed within a few days.
"Under this upgrade work of the road, all the road stretches that have been damaged will be fully repaired and macadmised," an official said.
He said that the shoulders on both sides of the roads will also be fully developed, through which commuters can also walk by foot. The maintenance work on the centre verge of the road will also be completed under this upgrade.
"There will also be proper road marking, sign boards, and road delineators. All the bridges that are coming upon the Narbal-Gulmarg road will also be painted," he said.
Executive officer of the Municipal Committee Magam, Ajaz Ahmad Khan, said for the beautification of Magam town, the municipal committee has completed various works in the main town.
"The walls that are coming in the Magam main market have been painted, and these paintings depict Kashmiri culture and tradition, which are adding to the beauty of the Magam main town," he said.
"The two bridges that are coming into Magam town has been also covered with fibre tin," he added.
Meanwhile, President of the Municipal Committee Kunzer, Ab Karim Dar, said that that they have already installed the signage boards in all the existing shops in the Kunzer markets.
"The development of the footpaths is almost complete. The walls have also been painted. These paintings depict Kashmiri culture and tradition, which is adding more beauty to the Gulmarg-Kunzer Road," Dar said.
The executive officer of the Municipal Committee of Tangmarg and Gulmarg, Naveed Ajaz Khan, said that the fencing of the six gardens has been completed.
“We have also completed entry and exit point of the Gateway Gulmarg and Tangmarg. The colour codes of all the government buildings have also been completed. However, the shopkeepers have also completed the colour coding of their shops and installed the signage boards for the beautification of the markets," Khan said.
He said three selfie points have also been constructed where tourists and the general public can take proper photos.
"The work on the children’s park has also been completed. However, the work on the development of the footpaths is going on and will be completed shortly." he said.
