Jammu, May 18: President Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI) Arun Gupta on Thursday said holding the G-20 Summit at SKICC Srinagar is a “great pride for us”.
“This event will have a lasting impact on Trade, Commerce, Industry and Tourism Sector of UT of Jammu & Kashmir as well as across the country,” Gupta said while addressing a press conference here.
“This high-profile summit will not only provide an opportunity for India to showcase the reality to the world that normalcy has returned in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir but will also pave the way for India to counter Pakistan’s fake claims of human rights violations,” he said.
Over 100 non-ministerial members representing G-20 nations are expected to participate in the summit. Aside from G-20 members, delegates from guest countries are also likely to participate.
This summit will eventually result in increasing the tourist flow, enhance economic benefits and generation of employment opportunities for the localities and will make it a stable destination for investments, the CCI president said.
Arun Gupta said that LG Manoj Sinha is taking a keen interest to make this event a great success which will open new vistas and opportunities for the stakeholders to get the maximum benefit out of this summit. He requested the Union government that “if possible, the government should arrange the visit of the delegates attending the summit, to Jammu areas also so that they can visit the world-famous places like Patnitop, Sudhmahadev, Mantalai and the lakes of Surinsar, Mansar and the holy shrine of Mata Vaishnodevi in Katra”.
“These places are being visited by the lakhs of the people. The visit of the delegates to Jammu areas will prove as a milestone for improving the tourism sector of Jammu,” he said.
