Srinagar, April 24: The hospitals on the 47-kilometer Srinagar-Gulmarg highway, connecting many tourist resorts, would be upgraded as the Health Department is gearing up for preparations ahead of this year’s G20 Summit events scheduled in May, health officials said on Monday.
In this regard, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather today reviewed the preparations in presence of all the Nodal Officers of various schemes and officers entrusted with G20 Summit events.
Spokesperson Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mir Mushtaq said the director reviewed the existing work which is going on for the upgradation of the infrastructure at various places like SDM Magam, SDG Tangmarg and PHC Gulmarg.
“These hospitals on the highway would be upgraded and get beautification. These hospitals will get all the latest equipment along with state-of-art sanitation facilities and availability of medicines,” he told Rising Kashmir.
Mir said the Health Department is making full proof arrangements for keeping all the medical facilities available for G 20 Summit meeting.
“The director urged upon all the officers to work expeditiously so that all the arrangements are made well on time,” the spokesperson said. The department is also planning routine upgradation in all the hospitals.
The meeting explained various aspects of ensuring prompt and timely medical care at the meeting sites and to earmark facilities in case of any medical adversity.
The director also directed that all the officers and officials to be deputed for G 20 Summit shall be trained in BLS and ALS for which trainings are going at the Regional Institute of Health & Family Welfare (RIFW), Dhobiwan and other hospitals as well.
Officials said the upcoming G20 Summit is certainly helping the health department get a makeover as the administration is making every possible effort before the arrival of dignitaries from participating nations.
Earlier, in March as part of preparations for this year's G20 Summit events, the Health Department Kashmir conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) training program at Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport.
