Bandipora, Nov 14: Gurez valley in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district has experienced fresh snowfall while the Bandipora-Gurez road has been closed as a precautionary measure.
An official told Rising Kashmir that Gurez received around ten inches of snow on Monday, leading to the closure of all internal roads of Gurez. He said they have ordered the closure of Bandipora-Gurez road for the movement of vehicles after heavy snowfall at Razdan Pass.
He also said that snow clearance machines were pressed into service to clear the internal roads of Gurez valley.
The MeT office on Monday said the weather models as of now don't suggest any major Western Disturbance in the next 10 to 15 days. Temperatures at some places can drop below the freezing point, however, that is quite common for the season, a weatherman said.
He suggested the closing of schools in upper reaches saying that temperatures can drop below -3 degrees Celsius there, which will be harsh for students as many schools lack heating facilities.
