Financial assistance for road safety advocacy: Govt constitutes committees

Srinagar, June 06: Jammu and Kashmir administration on Monday constituted UT Level Monitoring Committee and District Level Appraisal Committee for implementation of financial assistance for administering Road Safety Advocacy and award for the outstanding work in the field of road safety.
 
A Government order No. 663-JK(GAD) of 2022, dated 06.06.2022 signed by Principal Secretary to the Government, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi reads,
 
"Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of a UT level Monitoring Committee and Appraisal Committee at the district level, comprising the following, for implementation of scheme of financial assistance for administering road safety advocacy and awards for the outstanding work in the field of road safety,” reads the order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD).
 
For UT Level Monitoring Committee, the Administrative Secretary, Home Department shall act its Chairman while Administrative Secretary, Health & Medical Education Department; Administrative Secretary, Transport Department; Additional Director General of Traffic, Police and Transport Commissioner JK/Commissioner Road Safety shall act as its members, the orders reads.
 
According to the terms of reference, the UT level monitoring committee shall quarterly review and monitor the implementation of the scheme.
 
For Appraisal Committee at the district level, the District Magistrate (concerned district) shall act its Chairman, while as Senior Superintendent of Police (concern district); Chief Medical Officer (concern district), Regional Transport Officer (in respect of Jammu, Kathua and Srinagar districts) and Assistant Regional Transport Officer (in respect of other districts of Jammu and Kashmir), as per the order will act as its members.
 
The Appraisal Committee shall review and approve the proposals on monthly basis, as communicated by the concerned Police Station(s)/hospital(s).
 
The Appraisal Committee shall send the list of selected good Samaritans to the Transport Commissioner for further payment of remuneration, through electronic mode, the order maintained.
