When the life sustaining hormone insulin does not work as it should, it is called insulin resistance. The body compensates by producing more insulin and as a results insulin levels in blood are persistently high.Â
That leads to metabolic syndrome which causes obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease.Â
All these conditions increase a patient’s chance of catching Covid 19 and the illness likely to be serious or fatal.Â
Metabolic syndrome also decreases the body’s ability to fight infection.Â
Fortunately, metabolic sydrome can be prevented and reversed by avoiding carbohydrate (contained in rice, wheat, corn and potatoes) table sugar and seed oils and consuming more meat, eggs, butter, ghee and nuts.
It is not easy, but it is worth the effort as the rewards are great.Â
If metabolically health people get Covid , it is likely to be less severe and chances of recovery are high.
