Fiction writer Ratan Singh Kawal delivers lecture at South Campus KU

Anantnag, Nov 21: The Department of Urdu at the Kashmir University's South Campus organised a lecture on short stories on Monday. 
 
The lecture was delivered by noted fiction writer, Ratan Singh Kanwal, and was attended by faculty and students of the department.
 
Academic Coordinator, Dr Javaid Iqbal Bhat introduced and welcomed the guest speaker, faculty and students.
 
Ratan Singh Kawal threw light on the importance of short stories. He further added that Teerath Kashmiri is the man behind the ‘afsana writing culture’ in Kashmir.
 
He also gave an overview of all the fiction writers of Jammu and Kashmir. Fiction writing has a great role in Urdu culture, he said.
 
Director South Campus Dr Mukhtar Ahmad Khanday gave the concluding remarks and said there is a need to revive the glory of Urdu language.
 
He urged the students to start writing fiction stories for augmentation of their writing skills. He also said that Urdu as a subject should be promoted at kindergarten to high secondary school level for better understanding of the Urdu language.
 
Dr Nusrat Amin conducted the proceedings of the event while Dr Muzaffar Manzoor delivered a formal vote of thanks.
