Ganderbal, Apr 28: Many Female Multipurpose Health Workers (FMPHWs), working in the Family Welfare, Health Department, say they are without salaries for the last several months.
A delegation of FMPHW headed by District President Ganderbal Firdosa Akhtar told Rising Kashmir that they have not received salaries for the last five months. “Despite repeated assurances from the authorities, not a single step was taken to proved relief to us,” she said.
“We along with our families are on the verge of starvation. Our school-going children suffer mental distress as we could not pay their fees,” Firdosa said. “Our problem has yet not been resolved after the retirement of the Director General of Family Welfare last month.”
Shabir Ahmad Naik, District President Health Employees Confederation, district Ganderbal, in a statement, said that FMPHW has been deprived of salary for the last five months since the retirement of the Director General. “This has caused sufferings to the employees. They were deprived of salary even on the festive occasion of Eid,” he said.
“We as representatives request Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to kindly resolve the issue at the earliest as our children’s education is being affected due to non-payment of wages,” Naik said.
