Condemning the newly notified land laws for Jammu and Kashmir, Pradesh Congress Committee, Vice President and Former Minister, G. M Saroori Friday accused BJP for selling J&K to outsiders for their pity political gains.
“They have destroyed the country and J&K which is considered as the crown of the nation. Generations of sacrifices kept the erstwhile J&K united as a State and the BJP sold it out to the outsiders forgetting that the people who voted them to power will lose their employment, land and statehood,” said Saroori.
Saroori said that the innocent people of J&K trusted a political party which has distorted history and the unity of the erstwhile state. “We will not allow loot of our resources and land of J&K. Now, people of both the regions have realized the divisive design,” said Saroori.
Saroori said that the Govt of India should roll back the landlaws from J&K and provide protection of jobs and safeguards interests of the actual residents. “If our rights are not protected, the people will come on the roads. The GoI should not test the patience of the people. When Himachal Pradesh can have protection of land and jobs, why can’t we have the same protections in J&K. Himachal Pradesh is also part of India. No one has questioned their special provisions,” reacted the Former Minister Saroori.
He said that new land laws are assault on the agrarian reforms in Jammu and Kashmir which had provided land to the tillers and there was no landless farmer. “The land laws have threatened the survival of actual residents of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. We should join hands against the violation of rights and protest the law in every possible manner,” he said and appealed to the GoI to repeal the land law. “They are trying to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of J&K with such tactics. However, these things will not help them to continue their rule. They are exposed before the people for their divisive politics.”
The Vice President of J&K Congress Party appealed to the political parties of Jammu to join hands and protest against the law which is discriminatory in its nature and it will snatch the rights of the people. He demanded that the statehood should be retried in J&K and land and job rights should also be safeguarded. “Congress Party will not allow anyone to play with the future of the people. We will not tolerate the betrayal with the people,” he added.
