Srinagar, Aug 13: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar on Sunday said comprehensive three-tier security arrangements have been made to ensure smooth conduct of the Independence Day function in Kashmir.
He said in addition to conventional security measures, the authorities will deploy drone surveillance and aerial reconnaissance as part of the new security protocols.
Talking to mediapersons during the full-dress rehearsal function at the highly fortified Bakshi Stadium, Kumar said, “Drone surveillance of the venue will be carried out, and we will also conduct aerial reconnaissance using specialised equipment,” he said. ADGP Kumar assured that all arrangements have been meticulously put in place to ensure the smooth execution of all Independence Day functions. Responding to inquiries about the choice of Bakshi Stadium for this year's celebration, he compared it favourably to the SK Stadium.
He stated, "Bakshi Stadium offers improved amenities such as proper parking and accommodation facilities. We encourage a large turnout of people to participate in the Independence Day function."
Regarding traffic management, ADGP Kumar assured that traffic movement has been carefully coordinated in accordance with advisory guidelines. This measure is aimed at facilitating the smooth flow of traffic on designated routes during the event.
