Srinagar, Sep 08: In an effort to bolster anti-corruption efforts during the Bhrashtachar Mukt Jammu and Kashmir week celebrations, a crucial meeting of Departmental Vigilance Officers (DVOs) was convened at the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Headquarters.
The meeting, presided over by Anand Jain, IPS, Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, saw the participation of 40 DVOs from the Kashmir Division, alongside senior ACB Headquarters officials.
During the meeting, several important topics were discussed, with a focus on addressing pending cases within the jurisdiction of the DVOs in the Kashmir Division. Director Anand Jain highlighted the pivotal role that DVOs play in the functioning of the ACB, emphasizing the challenges of investigating every complaint received, particularly those related to ongoing projects, ongoing recruitments, and outstanding contract payments.
DVOs, as field officers, were noted for their ability to swiftly conduct on-ground verifications and access departmental records to ascertain factual positions in a timely manner. This capability enables them to promptly rectify any excessive payments made, thereby preventing financial losses to the state exchequer.
Director Anand Jain underscored the vital role of DVOs in proactively preventing corruption within their respective departments by implementing preventive measures in their workplaces.
The meeting primarily served as a platform to review the backlog of pending cases under the jurisdiction of DVOs. DVOs were instructed to adhere to a strict one-month timeframe for the disposal of cases based on their merits. Director Anand Jain expressed his satisfaction with the timely resolution of complaints by the DVOs.
The meeting's discussions underscored the commitment of the ACB and Departmental Vigilance Officers to combating corruption and promoting transparency during the Bhrashtachar Mukt J&K week celebrations and beyond.
