Drug peddler from Pattan arrested in Samba

Srinagar, Nov 27 :Samba police claimed to have arrested Pattan resident Mohd Imran Khan on charges of drug peddling and theft. Imran Khan, son of Ashraf Khan from Iqbal Colony Pattan Baramulla, was initially apprehended for drug-related offenses in the Sarore area, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Bari Brahmana.
Upon searching Imran Khan's possessions, the police made a significant discovery, finding seventy-nine money garlands, totalling Rs 95,880.00, and heroin valued at approximately Rs  45,000 . This revelation has brought to light Imran Khan's involvement in a broader range of criminal activities.
Further investigation uncovered Imran Khan's connection to a theft case in Banihal, where money garlands were stolen from a local shop. The arrest highlights a concerning correlation between drug peddling and theft in the region.
Addressing the media, Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh pointing out a link between heroin consumption and thefts. He emphasised that individuals engaged in drug peddling and addiction from various parts of Jammu and Kashmir are converging on notorious 'chitta' hotspots. In response, the police have heightened patrolling in these areas, leading to the apprehension of individuals like Imran Khan under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Imran Khan's arrest and the recovery of the stolen money garlands made Banihal police contacted their counterparts in Samba.
