Srinagar, Jan 12: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah Thursday visited Vicharnag, Noushaher to commiserate with the bereaved family of legendary poet and writer Rehman Rahi, who breathed his last earlier this week.
Joined by the party’s local unit functionaries, the party President offered fatiha for the deceased on the occasion. Political Advisor to President Mushtaq Guroo accompanied the President on the condolence visit.
Paying tributes to the legendary poet, Dr. Farooq said, “He was a living validation of Kashmir’s cultural standing and literary genius. The Kashmiri poetic scene has lost its one of the most precious jewels”.
He said Rahi Sahib’s contribution in salvaging the Kashmiri language from the shadows of foreign languages and sharpening the Kashmiri identity will be remembered for all the times to come. “I pay my earnest tributes to this grand versifier, culturist, and the great son of the soil. May Almighty elevate his stations in Jannat. May the bereaved family, admirers and followers of his find solace in the memories he has left behind.”
