DPS Budgam shines in District Judo Championship

The event was organised by J&K Judo Association in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council. A total of 32 students from DPS Budgam participated in the event out of which 25 won medals-- 6 gold, 8 silver and 11 bronze.

Budgam, Mar 25: Delhi Public School Budgam showcased outstanding performance in the District Judo Championship held at Indoor Stadium.

The event was organised by J&K Judo Association in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council. A total of 32 students from DPS Budgam participated in the event out of which 25 won medals-- 6 gold, 8 silver and 11 bronze.

The students have now been selected for the upcoming event to be held in Jammu.

Pertinently, more than 300 students from the different schools and sports clubs of the valley participated in the event. The students of DPS Budgam were selected from this large pool of competitors.

A statement said, “With their impeccable skills, hard work, and regular guidance from their teachers, the students were able to achieve the success.”

 The chief guest, Dr Khursheed Ahmad, a scientist and national level Judo player, boosted the morale of the students. He appreciated their talent and skills and highlighted the importance of sports for children. He spoke about the techniques that can help students excel in Judo.

Imran Mohammed Ahanger, also a national level Judo medallist, was the guest of honour on the occasion.

Gowhar Khan, Joint Secretary J&K Judo Association and Abdul Hameed Khan, vice president J&K Judo Association were among the other dignitaries.

The Management and the Principal DPS Budgam appreciated the school’s Physical Education Department. They also congratulated the students for their excellent performance.
