Div Com stresses on the promotion of sports to curb evil in society 

The Kashmir Chess Club organises Chess for Every One, FIDE International Rating Chess Tournament 2023

Srinagar, Feb 17:  Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Mr Vijay Kumar Bidori on Friday inaugurated ‘Chess for Every One, FIDE International Rating Chess Tournament 2023’ at Indoor Sports Stadium Polo ground where he stressed on the promotion of sports to curb evil.  
He said that sports is the medium where we can engage youth and channelize their energy like we recently did in Khelo India. “We have made playgrounds and youth clubs in rural areas. We want sports to get promoted to counter the social evils,” he added. 
 
The event was organised by The Kashmir Chess Club in collaboration with All J&K Chess Association under the aegis of J&K Sports Council and in the supervision of the All India Chess Federation.
Bidori inaugurated the event in presence of cluster head JK Bank Riyaz Ahmad Wani, Sajad Khalik Bhat of JK Police and Indoor Sports Manager Mohammad Iqbal and many other guests and dignitaries. 
In the welcome note and opening remarks from club member Pervez Ahmad applauded the club members and other volunteers who came forward from time to time to help in the promotion of the chess game. 
110 players from 14 different districts of JK and players from other states took part in the first round of matches and many internationally rated players boys and girls from UT of JK and outside UT are in the contingent.
