District H&H offices organise awareness camps

Srinagar, Feb 13: In a series of public outreach programmes, the Handicraft Offices of Srinagar, Budgam and Kupwara today organised awareness camps in their respective districts to “raise awareness among artisans and weavers about various activities being carried out by the department for the benefit of the artisan community.â€
The participants in the camps were informed about the schemes with special focus on Credit Card Scheme for individual artisans, financial support for industrial cooperatives, state award scheme and marketing of the products.
On the directions of the Director Handicrafts & Handloom Kashmir, the Chief Designer School of Designs also deputed the technical staff of SOD Srinagar to share the knowledge about the latest trends and designs .The designers of the School of Designs also provided the information about the latest designs which they said could be availed from the School of Designs free of cost for the artisans who are registered with the department, besides showcasing different designs.
The Director Handicrafts and Handlooms Kashmir, Mahmood Ahmad Shah, praised the departmental officers for their “doorstep outreach of the artisans of the city, which is regarded as the hub of the Handicrafts sector.â€
Similar camps were organised at Budgam, Ganderbal and Kupwara.
