District Carrom Championship in Ganderbal sees over 100 participants compete

Ganderbal, May 12: More than 100 boys and girls from the district of Ganderbal participated in the District Carrom Championship, which concluded on Friday. 
The event was organized by the district unit of the Jammu & Kashmir Carrom Association under the aegis of J&K Carrom Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council under the J&K Sports Council's special initiative My Youth My Pride.
MuminFayaz emerged as the winner in the senior category of the two-day championship, followed by Rumin in second place and Ramees in third. In the junior category, Salman was declared the winner, Aasif came in second, and Mumin secured third place in the Junior Boys section. In the Junior Girls section, Arizoo was declared the winner, followed by Iqra in second place and Tabasum in third.
Dawar Rashid, Assistant General Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, presided over the function as chief guest. During the closing ceremony function, the chief guest appreciated the measures taken by the J&K Sports Council to overhaul the sports structure in the union territory. Rahil Shafi Incharge Sports Hall, Sehpora Ganderbal, and other members of the association were present at the event.
The event was held under the overall supervision of Divisional Sports Officer Kashmir Nuzhat Ara, Manager Rahil Shafi Incharge Sports Complex Sehpora Ganderbal, and Arif Sultan Vice President of the J&K Carrom Association. The Jammu & Kashmir Carrom Association is tying to reach every nook and corner of J&K, this time with the My Youth My Pride programme of the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council.
General Secretary Mudasir Khan of the association announced that Jammu & Kashmir would be organizing district-level tournaments in every district of the union territory. The successful conclusion of the District Carrom Championship in Ganderbal is a testament to the growing interest in sports and the efforts of the J&K Sports Council to promote it.
