Srinagar, Nov 24: Director, Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), G.M. Dar, complimented the efforts of a young South Kashmir entrepreneur who is sponsored by the institute under Seed Capital Fund Scheme of J&K Government for aiding district administration Shopian during a fire incident that broke out in the old block of the hospital on Monday.

Following the fire incident in the old block of Government hospital here, authorities shifted the patients to different locations. The owner of Shadab Memorial Hospital, Faizan Farooq volunteered and offered full support to the district administration by keeping doors of his hospital open for all the patients.

“The efforts put in by Faizan are commendable. It is a proud moment for our organization that entrepreneurs are proving to be an asset for the society,” said the director. “I came to know that the hospital has also played an important role in the ongoing Covid-19 crisis and efforts have also been recognized by the district administration,” added the Director.

The district administration had earlier recommended Shadab Memorial Hospital for state award in 2020 for its proactive role in the Covid-19 crisis.

“Our hospital was the first Private hospital in district Shopian that was turned into a quarantine centre and later a Covid hospital. Patients with a terminal illness and Covid-19 infections were receiving utmost care at the hospital after following the guidelines put in place. We also started receiving referral patients during this time”, says Faizan Farooq.

“Even in this crisis where the old block of district hospital is out of service, our premises are open for people in need,” he added.

According to the administration of the Shadab Memorial Hospital, it is the first private hospital in Shopian, Kulgam, Pulwama and Pir Panchal region which has well-equipped C-ARM facilities to operate ortho and Urology patients.  The hospital has a Ventilator, X-Ray, ECG, USG, Path Lab, laparoscope and baby incubator. The hospital is now been upgraded with three major operation theatres and one minor operation theatre.

JKEDI has sponsored more than 14000 business units in J&K under various Government schemes like term loan scheme of National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC), Seed Capital Fund Scheme and Youth Startup Loan Scheme. Besides building capacities of prospective entrepreneurs and providing financial linkages, the organization is also the nodal agency for Startup policy of J&K.

The director further reiterated that EDI shall always be on the forefront to create proper business ecosystem in the region and shall keep no stone unturned in handholding and promoting financial linkages to the young budding entrepreneurs of Jammu & Kashmir.
