JAMMU, May 04: The work for providing of digital door number plates in two lakh Jammu residences, stores, government buildings, and commercial institutions will formally commence tomorrow.
“The survey has been completed in all seventy-five wards falling within the boundaries of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC),” JP Singh, Manager, Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), told Rising Kashmir, adding that “a detailed report regarding houses, shops, government buildings, and commercial establishments in Jammu has been submitted to the government.”
Rising Kashmir had exclusively reported that the Government has identified two lakh houses, shops, government buildings and commercial establishments in Jammu which will be provided new ID (unique address) with QR code.
The design of the digital door number plates was completed a few days ago, and work on affixing them to residences, stores, and other facilities will formally begin tomorrow, May 5th. The installation of digital door number plates will begin in Ward 62.
Following installation, the digital door number plates will serve as the new unique ID (address) for each household, shop, and other business establishment. This is known as a “Smart Address System.” The current address of the dwellings, shops, and other establishments will be retained only for postal purposes
JMC Mayor Rajinder Sharma will kick off work on providing/fixing digital door number plates tomorrow
“We will start the work for providing/fixing digital door number plates in Jammu from tomorrow,” the Mayor informed Rising Kashmir.
Not only the houses and shops but even many streets and lanes in Jammu will also have a digital number. In this regard, the Manager said that there are many streets and lanes in Jammu which do not have any name.
All such streets and lanes will also have a digital number (not plate) and new name so that the JMC is able to compile the data for providing various services to the people, JSCL Manager, JP Singh said.
Each house, shop and other buildings will be given a QR code. The people, by scanning this QR code, would be able to avail various services provided by the JMC like sanitation, repair or construction of streets, lanes and drains, request for street lights, lifting of garbage, seeking corrections in certificates besides various other services.
Apart from this, the people, by scanning the QR code, would also be able to lodge complaints if proper services are not provided in their area.
