DGP sanctions Rs 4.03 cr special welfare, ex-gratia relief

Jammu, Feb 01: With an aim to provide financial succour to the families of the police personnel who have passed away while in service, the Director General of Police, J&K, Dilbag Singh has sanctioned rupees 3.48 crore as Special Welfare Relief in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased police personnel and SPOs. Rs 55 lakh has also been sanctioned as ex-gratia relief in favour of legal heirs or dependents of a martyred police official and martyred SPO. 
“The DGP has sanctioned Rs 38 lakh ex-gratia relief in favour of NoK of martyr SgCt Safiullah Qadri and Rs 17 lakh as ex-gratia relief in favour of NoK of martyred SPO Mohd Tahir Khan,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.
“Vide different orders of PHQ, the DGP has sanctioned Special welfare relief of rupees 22 lakhs each in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased ASI Krishan Lal, HC Ravinder Singh, HC Manzoor Ahmad, HC Rajnish Khajuria, HC Mehrajud-ud-din, HC Ajit Kumar, HC Ranjeet Singh, HC Balbir Singh , HC Naresh Kumar, SgCt. Imtiyaz Ahmad, Sgct Rattan Paul, SgCt Mohd Quyoom, SgCt Waseem Iqbal, Ct. Liyaqat Ali and Kamal Sing,” he said. 
The DGP has also sanctioned rupees 6 lakhs each as Special Welfare Relief in favour of dependents or legal heirs of deceased SPOs Mohan Lal, Rajat Choudry and Wali Mohommad. 
“Rs one lakh each has already been paid to the families of deceased police personnel for performing their last rites through their concerned units. The Special Welfare Relief is sanctioned out of Contributory Police Welfare Funds,” the spokesperson said.
