DG Horticulture stresses on capacity building of farmers

Farmers training camps held in Srinagar, Bandipora

Srinagar, August 05: To commemorate the monumental occasion of 75th anniversary of India’s Independence, horticulture department organised farmers training and awareness camps in Bandipora and Srinagar.  
The programmes were held as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ at Anderkot Bandipora and Zakura  Srinagar. 
The Director-General (DG) Horticulture Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat inaugurated the training camp. He emphasized on the importance of technology transfer and highlighted the need for capacity building of farmers by holding such camps. 
He while elaborating on the different schemes, informed that the department is offering a host of developmental schemes for farmers, right from establishment of new orchards up to harvesting and marketing of fruits. 
He advised farmers to take maximum benefits under the developmental schemes of the department. He impressed upon them to adopt environment-friendly practices. 
The DG assured that such training camps will also be conducted across the valley in future.
The training camp was attended by the Chief Horticulture Officer and other functionaries of the department besides a good number of farmers. 
During the programme, farmers thanked the department for organizing such training camps and appreciated the DG Horticulture for his participation at grassroots level.
