Darakshan Andrabi lauds Handicrafts and Handloom dept's preservation of art and craft during G20 Visit

Srinagar, May 24: The Department of Handicrafts and Handloom in Srinagar has received high praise for its commendable efforts in presenting a glimpse of Kashmiri art and craft, which represents the rich cultural heritage of the region, during the ongoing G20 meet at SKICC.
As India holds the presidency of the G20 this year, the picturesque Kashmir valley has been chosen to host the meeting of delegates from member nations, focused on exploring tourism opportunities in the region. The delegates not only engage in discussions related to tourism but are also introduced to the scenic beauty and local culture of Kashmir.
To showcase the essence of Kashmiri culture to foreign delegates, various departments of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory have set up stalls, including the Department of Handicrafts and Handloom. On May 23, 2023, Dr. Darakshan Andrabi, the Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqaf Board and Minister of State, visited the Handicrafts and Handloom stalls at SKICC. The stalls exhibited a wide range of products, highlighting the artistic brilliance of Kashmiri craftsmen.
During her visit, Dr. Andrabi was greeted by officials from the Handicrafts and Handloom department, who expressed their admiration for the department's relentless efforts in preserving the legacy of Kashmiri art and craft. She also took an extensive tour of other venues and later enjoyed a serene Shikara ride in Dal Lake.
