Cop shot at, injured in South Kashmir's Anantnag

A policeman was shot at and injured by militants in Bewoora Bijbhera area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday evening.

 A policeman was shot at and injured by militants in Bewoora Bijbhera area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday evening.

 
A police official said that a cop was injured after suspected militants opened fire at him in Bewoora area South Kashmir's Bijbhera this evening.
 
"The injured policeman has been identified as Firdous Ahmad."Following injuries he was evacuated to hospital for treatment", he said.
 
 Meanwhile, Police in a statement said, Today at about 7:30 pm, Police received information about a terror crime incident at Hugam Srigufwara area of Anantnag where terrorists had fired upon a police personnel. Senior police officers reached at the terror crime spot.
 
The statement reads, "Officers attending the terror crime spot learnt that SgCt Firdous Ahmad was shot at by the terrorists at his residential house at Hugam Srigufwara area of Anantnag. In this terror incident, he had received gunshot injuries. Subsequently, he was shifted to SDH Bijbehara for treatment where from he was referred to 92Base Hospital Srinagar."
 
Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this terror crime. 
 
Meanwhile, area has been cordoned off and search in the area is going on.
