Committed to destroy eco-system of terror in J&K: LG Sinha

‘Youth interested in start-ups, shunned AK-47’

Srinagar, Aug 02: Lieutenant Governor (LG) J&K, Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that few elements on the behest of neighboring country are stimulating violence in Jammu and Kashmir and added, “The Government of India (GoI) does not believe in buying peace but to destroy the entire eco-system of terror”.
 
The LG was speaking with a national news channel regarding the achievements made in J&K post-abrogation of Article 370 and 35(A).
 
“The government of India does not believe in buying peace rather we are committed to destroy the entire eco-system of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir,” the LG said.
 
He said “those aiding eco-system of terror are more perilous than terrorists” and “the government is fully committed to ensure peace in the region instead of buying it.”
 
About recent target killings in the Valley, the LG said that these were “isolated incidents carried out by unscrupulous elements to disturb peace in J&K,” but our security forces are alert to thwart the designs of anti-peace elements.
 
“Our neighboring country does not digest peace in J&K. They are in a continuous effort to disturb it in one pretext or another. But our security forces are alert to frustrate their malicious intent,” the LG said.
 
He said after PM Modi assumed the office at central level emphasises was laid on to take stringent measures to put an end to innocent killings by terrorists.
 
He also said that 130 terrorists were killed in Jammu and Kashmir this year and majority among them were foreigners.
 
“From January 2022 till date, 130 terrorists were killed in different face off with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir,” the LG said.
 
He further added that hartal (strike) has become a thing of the past in J&K. Now people are busy to meet their ends in a peaceful manner, he said.
 
“When any separatist leader gets convicted, the J&K no more witnesses hartal now. People are now busy with meeting their ends peacefully. They want to live a peaceful life,” the LG said.
 
The LG said that all infamous terrorists have been neutralized in Kashmir valley by security forces in different encounters.
 
“Earlier they (terrorists) used to announce their joining on social media or so to make it public, but now the time has changed. They now know that their exposure will lead to their instant elimination,” he said.
 
He added the Government is working on de-radicalization of the Valley youth and in this regard the youth is being given employment so that they will live a prosperous life and help the administration in taking the UT to newer heights.
 
About the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative, the LG said it is a proud moment for the entire country including Jammu and Kashmir.
 
“Though few elements are hell bent to incite people’s passion against this mission, but I hope people in large numbers will participate in the mission and hoist tri-color at their homes in designated days,” the LG said.
 
LG Sinha while continuing said that after abrogation of Article 370 and 35(A), Government of India made enormous efforts in J&K that benefited people of the UT immensely.
 
“Earlier West Pakistan Refugees, Dalits, Adiwasi’s, Poonch migrants and others were excluded from the domain of mainstream but after annulment of 370 and 35(A) these communities have been taken on board and have been included in the mainstream domain,” he said.
 
Sinha said post article abrogation, major developments have occurred in Jammu and Kashmir in major departments.
 
“In year 2018-19, Rs 67,000 crore were spent from UT capex budget which resulted in completion of 9229 projects. But in the next financial year less 4,000 crore rupees were spent and 23,300 projects were completed. Similarly this year the J&K Government completed 50,700 projects so far,” he added.
 
“During these years, 290 services were made available online. The government in these years received feedback from six lakh people in which 75 percent expressed their satisfaction regarding government work,” he said.
 
He said J&K is the only UT that possesses two AIIMS, adding, “The youth of J&K is interested in startups now and have shunned the culture of AK-47.”
 
He also said due to major developments, the travel time on Srinagar-Jammu highway has been decreased from eleven hours to five hours.
 
About foreign investment, he said that 20 multi-national companies approached the J & K Government to invest in the hospitality sector.
 
Throwing light on the achievements, the LG said J&K will have 1000 MBBS seats in times to come and the UT Government is working upon it.
