New Delhi/Srinagar, July 08: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and condoled the loss of life in the cloudburst near the Amarnath holy cave shrine in Jammu & Kashmir on Friday.
“Anguished by the cloudburst near Shree Amarnath cave. Condolences to the bereaved families. Spoke to @manojsinha_ Ji and took stock of the situation. Rescue and relief operations are underway. All possible assistance is being provided to the affected,” the PM tweeted.
The Lieutenant Governor J&K Manoj Sinha termed the incident as unfortunate and expressed heartfelt condolences to bereaved families. “Deeply pained by unfortunate incident of cloudburst at Shri Amarnathji holy cave, in which precious lives have been lost. I sent my heartfelt condolences to bereaved families. Rescue operation by NDRF, SDRF, BSF, Army, JKP and Shrine Board admin is in progress”.
He also said, “Spoke to Hon’ble PM and Hon’ble HM and briefed about the incident. Hon’ble PM and Hon’ble HM has assured all the help. Our priority is to save the lives of people. Instructions have been issued to provide all necessary assistance to pilgrims. I am closely monitoring the situation.
LG further said, “The CRPF is engaged in rescue & relief operations and helping the pilgrims. ALH choppers pressed into action for rescue of injured”.
“One NDRF team is always deployed near the holy cave, it immediately engaged in the rescue work. One more team has been deployed & another is on its way. 10 casualties reported so far; 3 rescued alive: NDRF DG Atul Karwal earlier told reporters.
