Civilians injured in Hawal grenade attack 

Huge sound creates panic in Handwara village, search on: Police

Srinagar, Jan. 1: A civilian suffered splinter injuries after suspected terrorists hurled grenades towards a 28th Battalion CRPF banker in Hawal area of Srinagar on Sunday evening.
 
As per the police officer, the grenade was thrown towards the banker, but it missed the target and exploded on the roadside, resulting in minor injuries to one person.
 
He said that after the incident, the area was cordoned off to nab the grenade thrower, and searches are underway.
 
The officer identified the injured as Manzoor Ahmad Malla, a resident of Habak Srinagar. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, the officer said.
 
Meanwhile, panic has gripped Ganapora village of Kralgund in north Kashmir’s Handwara town after firing sounds were heard in the area.
 
As per the local residents, "some gunshots were heard in the locality this evening."
 
A police officer told Rising Kashmir, "Sounds were heard in the area, and the area was immediately cordoned off."
 
The officer said searches in the area are going on.
