October 6, Budgam: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Akshay Labroo on Friday chaired a crucial meeting here to discuss and review the arrangements for the upcoming annual Urs of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (RA).
During the meeting, the DDC conducted a detailed review of preparations across various departments. He emphasised the need for meticulous planning, directing officials to ensure timely installation of street lights, cleanliness of the shrine premises, and the surrounding areas. He also called for the installation of mobile toilet facilities, proper sanitation, and waste disposal before the commencement of the week-long Urs.
The DDC specifically instructed the Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Power Development Department (PDD) to guarantee uninterrupted water and electricity supply to the town and its vicinity during the Urs days. The Executive Officer of Municipality Charar-i-Sharief was tasked with maintaining sanitation, organizing regular garbage collection, and installing dustbins for proper waste disposal. Furthermore, he was directed to oversee the installation of street lights in the area.
The Municipal Committee of Charar-i-Sharief, in collaboration with the tourism department, was instructed to illuminate the shrine and enhance the beauty of parks. To ensure smooth traffic flow for incoming devotees, DySP Traffic and ARTO Budgam were directed to create a synergized Traffic Management Plan. Additional parking arrangements were stressed upon to manage traffic congestion effectively.
The Health department was mandated to provide necessary medical facilities, including wheelchairs, for specially-abled devotees during the Urs days. Medical camps were directed to be set up inside the shrine premises for immediate assistance.
DC Labroo emphasised the importance of proper public facilitation during the Urs period, urging all concerned officers to work cohesively to ensure a hassle-free and spiritually enriching experience for the devotees.
The meeting was attended by key officials including JD Planning Rafiq Ahmad, SDM Charar i Sharief, SDPO Charar i Sharief, DySP Traffic, ARTO Budgam, AD FCS&CA, Tehsildar Charar-i-Sharief, Auqaf Officer of JK Waqf Board, and representatives from ziyarat sharief, along with district heads of various line departments.
