CBC organises awareness programme for tribal students in Srinagar

Srinagar, March 11: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India on Saturday organised a one-day Integrated Communication and Outreach Program (ICOP) on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) in Srinagar. The awareness programme was organised by CBC's Field Office Srinagar at the Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel in Gogji Bagh.
The outreach programme was organised for sensitisation of students from the tribal community about AKAM and inform them about various scholarship and skill development schemes launched by the government for them. Information about AKAM and other public welfare schemes of the government particularly for the tribal welfare was displayed through informative standees and printed awareness material.
Sh. Mudasir Hussain Choudhary, Secretary Srinagar Municipal Corporation was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his presidential address he lauded CBC for organising the outreach programme for the tribal students. He said that Amrit Mahotsav is a celebration of our unity in diversity. He said that we need to follow the noble ideals of our freedom fighters and take inspiration from their firm resolve to fight the evils of discrimination, illiteracy, poverty and malnutrition in society. He urged students to take advantage of different scholarship schemes and skill development courses being offered by the government. Sh. Mudasir called upon the tribal youth to take lead in environment protection and mobilise their community for a sustainable living and be part of the development story of India.
In his welcome address Sh Muhammad Sikander, In-charge, CBC Field Office Srinagar informed the participants about the objective of the awareness programme. He gave a detailed presentation about the mandate and functioning of the bureau and provided a brief overview of the activities undertaken by CBC in Kashmir.
Coordinator Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel Srinagar, Sh. Naseem Choudhary in his address said that AKAM presents an opportunity to every citizen to contribute in whatever capacities they can. He said that the government is making every effort to ensure uniform development of all the sections of the society. He called for a need to organise more such programs in future.
A quiz competition on AKAM was also organised by CBC on the occasion, wherein the winners were felicitated.
