Carry out sanitization in all religious places: SMC Commissioner to Deptt

Srinagar, July 5: In preparation for Urs of Shah-e-Hamdan (RA) and the upcoming Eid-Ul-Adha,The Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner directed the concerned departments to carry out sanitization in all religious places. He also directed that defunct street lights be repaired and that a dog catching squad be available around the clock to manage stray dogs.
In addition to directing officials to maintain upgraded sanitation in all wards of Srinagar city. He also stated that no garbage should be seen lying anywhere and that all dumping points be cleared twice a day.
SMC Commissioner said that special attention has to be given to all religious places, including shrines and mosques. Because of sanitation, all street lights are functional. Continuous water supply, strict anti-encroachment campaigns, anti-polythene campaigns, and continuous dog catching squad services for dog management. So that those offering prayers on the occasion are not inconvenienced.
To ensure smooth flow of traffic and pedestrian movement, the SMC's Enforcement wing has been directed to conduct regular anti-encroachment drives.
The Srinagar Municipal Corporation will be providing dedicated service in all the wards of Srinagar City for the collection of animal hides and skins on Eid ulAdha.
This was directed in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Commissioner SMC Athar Amir Khan in which all senior officers including Joint Commissioners, FA CAO Secretary SMC, heads of all the wings of SMC including Sanitation, Enforcement, Planning, Revenue, Electrical, Health and all ward officers were present.
It was also decided that SMC would be providing a dedicated service for the collection of animal hides and skins in all wards of Srinagar City on the eve of Eid ulAdha.

He has also directed all the ward officers to appeal and has himself requested the general public not to throw animal hides in public places or mix with municipal waste.
 
The sacrificial waste of animal hides has to be retained and handed over to the concerned driver and the SMC official who shall visit their place after contacting them so that the waste is collected and properly disposed of by SMC said Athar.
