Srinagar, May 02: In a ground-breaking move, Kashmiri Director Tariq Bhat is all set to release Bollywood movie "Welcome to Kashmir." This film is not only a significant milestone for Bhat but also for the entire Kashmiri film industry, as it is the first Bollywood movie made by the locals, for the locals, and for the rest of the world.
The film's theme is centered on pressing issues faced by the people of Kashmir, including drug addiction in youth, women's empowerment, and the genuine image of the people and the J&K police force. The director's vision to bring together Kashmiri artists and showcase the real side of Kashmir is finally coming to fruition.
The film boasts an impressive cast, led by the male lead, Ahmad. Shahab, and the female lead, Mateena Rajput, both hail from Kashmir. The film is primarily shot in the picturesque locations of Sopore, Watlab, and Wular. Lake, Rampora Rajpora, Gurez Valley, and Srinagar.
Moreover, the film will introduce a talented Kashmiri singer and music composer, Ishfaq Kawa, to Bollywood. The team behind the movie comprises of experienced professionals like Umar Adil, who has an in-depth understanding of Kashmir, as the casting director and Peerzada Tahir as the media supervisor.
The film's production began on March 15th, 2022, at Gurez Valley, and it took six months to complete the shoot. With the trailer set to release on May 6th, 2023, the excitement among the audience is palpable.
