BLS–CPR training programme held at Government Dental College Sgr

  Srinagar, Oct 15: As a part of the nationwide CPR Awareness Week being observed from October 13 to 17 under the initiative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, the Government Dental College and Hospital, Srinagar, in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, successfully organised a one-day Training Programme on Basic Life Support/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on 15th October 2025, at the institution’s Auditorium Hall. As per a statement issued here, the programme aimed to enhance awareness and impart hands-on training in life-saving BLS/CPR techniques among healthcare professionals and students. The session was attended by Principal/Dean, Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kour Bali, Medical Superintendent Prof. (Dr.) Shabir Ahmad Shah, Heads of Departments, faculty members, registrars, postgraduate and undergraduate students, house surgeons, interns, and other staff members of the institution. During the event, expert trainers from the Directorate of Health Services demonstrated the practical aspects of BLS/CPR, emphasising its critical role in saving lives during sudden cardiac arrest situations. Participants were given live demonstrations and the opportunity to practise under the supervision of the said experts. Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kour Bali, Principal/Dean of the institution, lauded the initiative and highlighted the importance of equipping all healthcare providers with essential life-saving skills. She further emphasised that timely and effective CPR can significantly improve survival rates in cardiac emergencies. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. (Dr.) Shabir Ahmad Shah, Medical Superintendent of the said institution, to the experts from the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, for their collaboration and continued efforts toward promoting public health education and emergency response preparedness.
