Jammu, Oct 20: Ranbir Singh Pathania, Spokesperson BJP J&K in line with the voter revision exercise initiated by the ECI conducted physical meetings of booth presidents, Shakti Kendras and prominent party cadres at Majalta as well as Jaganoomandals of district Udhampur.
According to a statement, he impressed upon the cadres to bear in mind that every eligible voter needs to be enrolled as a voter in electoral roll and to cast his vote irrespective of his domestic, official as well as professional engagement on fateful day.
While making a special reference to a furor created by opposition parties Pathania said that all people who are  'ordinarily resident' in a particular area, irrespective of their place of permanent residence, are entitled to get themselves enrolled as  voters in that particular area.
He further said that section-19 and Section-20 of RPA 1950 are as clear as day, as to how a person who may be 'permanently resident' at one place and 'ordinarily resident' at other, can register himself as voter and cast his vote at a place where he is ordinarily residing. We need to focus on all such voters and get themselves enrolled without any delay or doubt.
He called upon the party cadres to immediately get all eligible voters included in the new voter revision.
He also called for immediate liaisoning with concerned BLOs so that all the old/newly enrolled voters could be Aadhar-linked.
He also called for a meticulous cross checking of the voter lists so that all discrepancies/loose gaps could be effectively plugged out. And an effective set-up, particularly post delimitation, could be put in place. Free and fair elections is the very bedrock of democracy and BJP is committed to it. It is the duty of all of us that weensure that all eligible people are able to vote in a most free and fair environment and in line with the mandate of the law of land. We all need to act as harbingers of the new change in J&K. We also need to act on a mission mode and educate the people about basic rights as well as responsibilities of voters.
Pathania also called for immediate initiation of door to door and man to man mobilization of people so that no eligible voter is left out in the new electoral revision.
BJP stands committed for strengthening and stabilising democratic institutions and processes especially in the UT of J&K.
