Jammu, Sept 7: In order to create a fresh cadre for his yet-to-be-named party, former Indian National Congress (INC) stalwart Ghulam Nabi Azad will visit his home turf—Bhaderwah—on September 8, where he is scheduled to address a major rally at Bhalla village.

On his way to Bhaderwah, Azad is also expected to meet four to five deputations at Udhampur, Chenani, Patnitop, Ramban, and Batote areas.

The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Azad, is also scheduled to address two consecutive rallies at Drabshalla and Chatroo areas of Kishtwar town.

“On September 11, Azad will address his maiden rally in Kashmir’s Baramulla district after severing all ties with the Congress party,” GM Saroori, the former minister, told The Rising Kashmir.

On September 12, 13, and 14, Saroori added that the former leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha, will meet the Kashmiri deputations in Srinagar and on September 15, besides addressing a rally at Kokernag area of Anantnag district.

Followed by this, Azad will start his tour of Peer Panchal areas in Samba and Kathua districts in Jammu province, revealed another Congress leader on condition of anonymity.

“He’s (Azad) is touring these areas to create a fresh cadre for his new party and to enthuse his former Congress party-men that have already joined his camp now,” he added.

Met over 400 delegations in Jammu

According to his newly formed party members, after addressing his maiden rally in Jammu on September 04, Azad has so far met over 400 delegations. These delegations included District Bar Associations, trade and transport unions, school and college student unions, employee unions, farmers, unemployed youth, social, political and religious bodies.

“Until September 06 evening, 375 deputations from Udhampur, Kathua, Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Poonch, Samba, Reasi, Ramban, and Jammu had met Azad at his Gandhi Nagar Jammu based residence and today the number has crossed 400,” claimed Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, the former minister and former senior Congress leader from Kathua’s Bilawar.

According to Sharma, most of the delegations meeting Azad have expressed their solidarity with the former Chief Minister and praised the latter for floating a new party.

“People were fed up with the corrupt and inefficient leaders and their policies. They were constantly looking for an alternative and now they’ve got the alternative in Azad sahib,” said the former Congress leader.

Dr. Sharma said that most of the deputations visiting Azad have been discussing with the latter the issues related to rising unemployment in J&K, recruitment scams, and bureaucratic apathy to the general public’s issues. Besides, lack of student politics in school and college campuses, rise of mining mafia in J&K, loss suffered by the business community post Article 370 abrogation as well as GST implementation and also due to the spread of COVID pandemic were among other issues discussed.

“Issue of inclusion of non-J&K voters in the voter list was also discussed by many deputations,” he added.

According to Sharma, Azad asked all his supporters and well-wishers to create a committed cadre, particularly of women and youth, to fight the corrupt leaders and their policies.
