Budgam, Mar 05: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza inaugurated a day-long ‘Community Awareness Programme’ for sheep breeders at the Sheikh-ul-Alam hall here today.

On the occasion, he said that sheep breeding along with other agricultural allied activities have “vast potential” for generating large scale self-employment.

The DC praised the District Sheep Husbandry Office for conducting the event and said that the government jobs are limited and that the youth should endeavour to seek self-employment through sectors like Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture, Handloom, Handicrafts and sheep breeding etc.

The DC urged upon DSHO to make use of modern technology so that youth are attracted towards agricultural allied activities. He also distributed medical kits among attendees.

Earlier, BVO Beerwah Faisal Ahmad conducted a training session through PowerPoint presentation, while the DSHO Budgam said that the need of an hour is to inculcate working culture and that sheep breeding has “enormous scope for providing self-sufficiency.”

Among others, the workshop was attended by DSHO, BVOs, sheep breeders and entrepreneurs.
