The top three risk factors for mortality in India are high blood pressure, high fasting blood sugar levels (measured as fasting plasma glucose), and overweight/obesity. Excess diet of carbohydrates, total fats, saturated fats, trans fats, and sodium is strongly connected to these top three risk factors.

 The extensive availability, affordability, and promotion of processed and ultra-processed food products high in sugars, fats, and sodium has primarily contributed to the over intake of these nutrients.

 As a result, a major component of the answer is the employment of rules and regulations to restrict the demand for and supply of items containing excessive levels of critical nutrients.
