Bandipora, May 20: The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Bandipora on Saturday launched a crackdown on traffic violators, booked numerous offenders and implemented a vehicle blacklisting initiative to curb repeated offenses.
During the checking, an amount of Rs 50,000 was recovered on the spot from traffic violators and five vehicles were blacklisted.
Sharing details, the ARTO Bandipora, Bilal Ahmad Mir said they conducted a series of operations and checkpoints on the Sumbal-Bandipora road. He said the aim was to identify and penalize individuals violating traffic rules, thereby creating awareness and promoting responsible driving habits.
The operations targeted various traffic violations such as overspeeding and reckless driving and special focus was laid on the installation of speed-limiting devices and document checking.
In addition to the penalties imposed on the violators, the ARTO Bandipora has implemented a vehicle blacklisting system to deter repeat offenses. Under this initiative, vehicles involved in severe traffic violations or multiple offenses will be blacklisted, leading to restrictions on their use on public roads, he said, adding that the blacklisted vehicles will be subjected to impoundment, fines, and other necessary measures to ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
