NEP 2020: Surgical Strike

One needs to visualize an Indic perception and perception of knowledge gathering in the contours of an ashram

  • New Education Policy is very well hewn and a timely exercise
  • Integration of all the streams and stages of education is another back pat worthy formulation
  • Issue of NLUs needs to be taken up rather comprehensively and smartly
  • NEP 2020 intend

In the embraced and inspiring leadership of India’s honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi and within the holistic backdrops of consistent hard and smart work of the Union Ministry of HRD, under architecture-ship of prominent educationist and former ISRO Chairperson, who also chaired the NEP Committee Dr. K. Kasturirangan, the largest democracy has done an efficient surgical strike in the education domain from policy perspective, while bringing the National Educational Policy 2020.

The same was pending from a long due particularly, in the diverse changes occurred in the largest democracy across tri-laterals of social, economic and politically diasporas post the last education policy came in 1986 (followed by minor amendment in 1992) as well as its locus and focus trajectories are completely deflected from the Colonial Macaulay Education Policy and moved more towards indigenous Indian path.

The NEP 2020 advocates for changing the name of Union Ministry of Human Resource Development as Union Ministry of Education, as it clearly send out message that human is not merely a resource rather the use of word ‘education’ interlink India towards its age old civilization value, while putting education at its supreme echelon.

The New Education Policy or NEP-2020 is very well hewn and a timely exercise. It curtails the filibustering in the schools and universities all across the length and breadth of the nation’s educational landscape. The issue of catching them young like, it’s done ever so effectively finds its avid reflection in the NEP 2020 as right from the 6th class onwards the vocational integration or in simpler words, the kids can opt for their area of interest and combinations of the order of Physics and Music can be attempted.

Electives at the earliest stages have become the nom de plume now so that the younger lot can identify their strengths and weaknesses. A second shot at the boards and the eradication of the M. Phil. requirement is something, which the Prime Minister’s denomination can be accredited with! The invective at “rote learning” too deserves kudos as the idiom of vocational learning takes a front seat. It will take time to sink in but, why are the revolutionaries unashamedly denigrating the spirit of Shiksha, beats me. Again, the much awaited demand to raise the Public Investment cap of stimulus or spending in education sector to be also bear fruit with the aimed share at the 6 percent of India’s GDP.

What more could have been added is the reforms in the dictum of National Law Universities (NLUs) and central universities, which can be streamlined with the mainstream in a much better and conducive manner. The integration of all the streams and stages of education is another back pat worthy formulation.

The issue of NLUs needs to be taken up rather comprehensively and smartly. The contractarian nature of Professor Jobs mars the feeling and sentiment of a wholesome student teacher relationship, which if not present does augur well for the entire academic health and the knowledge dissemination and creation in the aforesaid NLUs. The commercialization of education is another issue which needs to be earnestly taken up in the right earnest. Also, one needs to visualize an Indic perception and perception of knowledge gathering in the contours of an ashram where-in, the idiom of an unbounded and sacred spread of knowledge can be entertained and practice.

The NEP needs to have a look at the fall in the standards of education in the private universities and institutions, wherein, the falling and plagiarized copy of projects and research work is a cause of great worry for the general upkeep of health of the educational firmament in the nation. The NEP 2020 further strikes upon Common Norms for Public & Private Higher Educational Institutions, Private Philanthropic Partnerships & Provision of Fee Fixation or cap on fee within Broad Regulatory Framework.

The creation of the National Educational Technological Forum (NETF) too needs to be looked, which has already been given a space in the larger tract of education specifically in the higher educational field. The future strivings of the Government in the context of the incorporation of technology in the grand Educational projects in the nation’s landscape say- Educational Planning, across trilateral of Teaching, Learning & Assessment, Self Disclosure & Minimum Human Interface, Divyang friendly Education Software, e-Content in Regional Languages etc., is another feather in the cap of the forward looking and futuristic realm of the Educational firmament.

The stress on Indic way of life, culture and values too has been amicably amplified with the scenario being that of the revalidation and reemphasis upon the larger idiom of the values and morality imbued in the national culture and ethos. The essentials of Aparrigraha and non violence but astute self defense have been the driving idioms of the larger deliberations upon the Indian context, which find ample reflections in the NEP 2020.

Let’s look at some of the key snippets of National Education Policy 2020 and it makes for essential fact finding. The NEP 2020 intends to turn India as a knowledge superpower with the idiom of gender sensitization being one of the larger dictums of the novae National Education Policy 2020. It’s not that NEP only postulates and pontificates about the entire theme of Higher Education but, Anganwadees and nursery schools also find their paramount in the larger idiom of the day in the larger educational firmament in the nation.

Keeping in view the fissiparous and ignite cognition of some professors and students, the NEP provides a useful and holistic insight into the theme of the constitutional values and ethics, which inculcates self discipline and non dissent insights inside the organic system of students and education in the nation. Apart from the rights, the insights inside the Directive Principles of State Policy (DPSP) too have become the key theme of the NEP 2020. The final objective is to inculcate the larger objective of the Indic ethos and the proud traditions of the educational rampart in the nation which is amply reflected in the NEP 2020.
