Apni Party Provincial President Jammu, S. Manjit Singh along with other leaders in Samba district attended the program.
During the program, the Apni Party leaders garlanded the photo of the Chief Architect of Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar on his 132st birth anniversary.
In his address, S. Manjit Singh remembered the contribution of Dr Ambedkar who worked for the upliftment of the marginalized section of society to upgrade their living standard.
He said Baba Sahib worked for all sections of society including those who were considered untouchable and helped in eradication of social evils from the society.
“His fight for equality in social, educational, political, economic and other sectors enabled the neglected class of society to get their rights under reservation rules which were provided by the Constitution of India,” he said.
He said these people were socially and economically so marginalized that without reservation, they could not have achieved in professional life after getting an equal education equivalent to others who belong to an economically and socially good background.
He said that “The Indian constitution as framed by Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar till date protects the rights of the neglected class and the Govts are bound to provide reservation to achieve equality in society for the economically and socially backward society.”
He, however, advised the people to follow the footsteps of Baba Sahab and work for the marginalized section of society.
“Baba Sahab is an example that education brings prosperity and a good future for the generations to come. We shall encourage education and empowerment of the weaker section.
The society shall treat the neglected class of society with dignity,” he said. Meanwhile, the Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh also greeted people on the eve of Baisakhi.
