Amarnath Yatra: DHSK reviews healthcare arrangements

Doctors, paramedics being trained in High Altitude Emergency Medicine: Officials

Srinagar, June 04: Director Health Services Kashmir (DHSK), Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Rather on Sunday visited Baltal and Sonmarg to take stock of healthcare arrangements for Amarnath Yatra 2023.
The Director Health visited Baltal and Sonamarg in preparation for the Yatra to take stock of the healthcare arrangements being made for the annual pilgrimage.
During his visit, the director conducted a review meeting at Sonamarg where he inspected the arrangements being made for the Yatra. He also visited the under-construction new hospital building, where he reviewed the progress of the construction work.
Later, he inspected the under-construction DRDO Hospital and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the construction work and said that all necessary arrangements for the Yatra will be completed well in time for a smooth and successful Yatra.
“Yatra is a significant pilgrimage for the region and govt. is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that it is conducted smoothly and without any untoward incident,” he said.
Dr Mushtaq said that the preparations for the Yatra are in full swing,and the government is taking all necessary steps to ensure that the pilgrimage is a grand success.
Officials informed that doctors and paramedics are being trained in High Altitude Emergency Medicine training at before their deployment.
The staff will be trained in High Altitude Emergency Medicine at the Regional Institute of Health & Family Welfare (RIFW), Dhobiwan.
Further, tertiary care facilities like SKIMS Soura, SKIMS Bemina, Govt. Medical Colleges will be kept on ready mode for handling any referral cases during the Yatra period.
