Baramulla, Jun 02: Flood and Control Department Subdivision Sopore has served a notice to people of Tarzoo Ningli Bala who have encroached the state land along the Ningli Nala, to remove the illegal encroachments within a period of seven days.

An official order from Assistant Executive Engineer Flood Control Division Sopore viz order number FC/SDS/63/69 dated 31-05-2023, states that those persons who have encroached the land by erecting tin sheds, planting trees or by constructing huts must remove the illegal encroachments within a period of seven days.

An official of the Flood Control department said that the residents of Tarzoo Nigli Bala have been notified regarding the initiation of cleaning work along the Tarzoo Bridge to Ningli Bala stretch.

He said that concerns have been raised about the presence of illegal encroachments by several residents, including the unauthorized fencing, planting of trees along the Nala Nigli, and construction of tin-shed structures.

"These encroachments obstruct the Ningli Nala and pose significant challenges for the upcoming digging operations," the official said.

He further said that to address this issue, the residents have been given an official notice, instructing them to remove the illegal encroachments within a period of seven days.

"Failure to comply with this directive will lead to the department exercising its authority to take appropriate legal action."

Aijaz Ahmad, an official of Flood Control Department Subdivision Sopore told Rising Kashmir that around 250 kanals have been encroached along the Ningli Nala from Kachua upto Tarzoo.

"Around 150-200 structures have been constructed along the Ningli Nala by the people which are obstructing the digging operations," he added.

Officials of the Flood Control Department Sopore emphasize the importance of clearing these illegal encroachments to ensure the smooth progress of the cleaning work, which aims to enhance the flood control measures in the area.

"By removing these obstructions, the department aims to safeguard the community and minimize potential flood-related risks," officials said.
