Srinagar, Jan 20: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday said that UT administration is trying to resolve the difficulties being faced by them, adding, the security concerns and the measures for the protection of KPs have been taken care of well.
He said there was a time when land was not available for Kashmiri Pandits for their accommodation.
“Nowadays the housing colony, under PMDP, is being constructed on 113 Kanals of land by R&B Department. It will have 39 blocks comprising 936 flats,” LG Sinha told reporters after laying the foundation stone of Transit Accommodation for PM Package Employees at Zewan, outskirts of Srinagar.
LG Sinha said the majority of PM Package employees are based in Srinagar and with the creation of this accommodation, their housing problem will be solved. “Similar projects are being constructed in other parts of Kashmir as well. Security concerns and the measures for the protection of KPs have been taken care of well,” he said.
LG Sinha said 1200 flats will be ready soon and 1,800 flats will be ready by end of December 2023. He interacted with officials at the site and laid emphasis on timely completion of the project.
On a query about protesting KP employees in Jammu, he said the administration is trying to resolve the difficulties being faced by them. The promotions, the non-gazetted migrant KP posts have been referred to Public Service Commission (PSC) for making them gazetted cadre, he said.
“We are in touch with protesting employees and administration is sensitive to the genuine issues and trying to resolve their problems, whether in Kashmir or in Jammu,” LG Sinha said.
He also said from the security point of view, the administration, in consultation with the police, has posted these employees at “appropriate places”.
Regarding security arrangements for Bharat Jodo Yatra, LG said all security measures are in place and the administration will facilitate it smoothly. Whatever security measures were needed have been taken.
On ongoing anti-encroachment drive launched by the union territory administration, LG Sinha reiterated that poor and common man should not be afraid about it.
“This drive is only against influential and powerful people who misused their position to encroach upon the State land would be evicted in the Union Territory (UT),” he said.
Earlier in the month of December, the Lt Governor conducted an on-site inspection and took first-hand appraisal of the ongoing construction work of Transit Accommodations for PM Package employees at Baramulla and Bandipora.
