Jammu, Dec 17: Aam Aadmi (AAP) Party on Saturday organised an interaction programme with auto-rickshaw drivers in Jammu with an aim to listen to their grievances and boost their morale.
According to a statement issued to Rising Kashmir, the meeting was organised by AAP leader Rohan Bedi with the support of Amrik Singh Sasan, Gurmeet Singh Baaghi.
A large number of auto drivers drawn from different parts of Jammu City took part in this interaction programme and put forth their grievances while calling for a proper mechanism to redress the grievances so that they can work in a hassle free manner. They demanded measures for upliftment of their working style so that auto rickshaw services are improved in Jammu City areas.
Addressing the gathering, AAP senior leader Surinder Singh Shingari said that auto rickshaws are an important part of social setup as they provide an important basic transportation service to the people. He said their upliftment should always be a priority of the successive regimes but unfortunately the Jammu and Kashmir Government has done nothing in previous years.
He said, ” It is only AAP that has given due regards, credit and priority to auto rickshaw drivers through friendly policies in Delhi and auto rickshaw drivers have always been given priority by AAP in other areas also like Gujarat, Punjab.”
Shingari further said that AAP is concerned about the hurdles being faced by auto rickshaw drivers in Jammu and Kashmir and the party will frame a proper policy for their upliftment once it comes to power.
Aam Aadmi Party on this occasion distributed uniforms to Jammu Auto operator union at Lower Muthi.
Party leaders who were present in the program were Ravi Shastri, Amit Kapoor, Er. Harpreet Singh, Ajay Dogra, Dixit Gupta, Sandeep Sharma, Dr Sourav Bhagat, Harneet Singh Sandy and Gushi Lochan.
