Everyday, Sheikh Ahmad along with his team is seen educating people regarding Road and Safety norms at various spots of Srinagar.

The 22 years old Ahmad is the senior member of Kashmir Road Safety Foundation, an organization that ensures road safety. He has been doing the activities in collaboration with the Traffic Department.

Calling for the need of an hour, Ahmad while emphasizing on the road safety and traffic rules said, “People of my age usually risk their life for the sake of style. They ride fast or drive without wearing seatbelts. We have observed that while driving or riding a vehicle, many people talk on their mobile phones which should be avoided totally.”

Apart from this, the team also checks the overcrowding of the buses and ensures the reservation of women seats in buses.

Recently, Taekwondo players had participated in one of the special safety drives with his team. “The players were in their uniform and they took the charge for one day. That was very appealing,” he said.

In future, the team is also moving out of the city to other districts to extend their activities.

Since school days, he has been interested in doing various activities related to drug menace and has actively worked during covid pandemic. In future he wants to be an IPS officer and works for the betterment of society.

Ahmad is also state secretary of JK students’ welfare forum. “We have done a lot of events regarding drug menace, women empowerment and other things. It’s the responsibility of youth to bring a change in society,” he said.
