Undoubtedly, the food, when eaten in a uniquely designed ambience, tastes even better. Marine Dine is the underwater themed restaurant in Srinagar that provides a blend of food and fun.

Situated at Jawahar Nagar, the restaurant has been witnessing huge rush from people owing to its tasty food and serene ambience.

Kais Suhail, an entrepreneur and the managing director of the restaurant, states that the theme is the first of its kind in the valley. “The theme is totally out-of-the-box. It offers you a calm and relaxing vibe,” he said.

He also mentioned about people saying that they have experienced and seen such theme based dinning mostly abroad.

Inside the restaurant, the seats are designed like a shikaras and one can see rocks, logs of wood, starfishes and swimming tubs tucked with the walls. In addition to it, real seashells are also stuck at various places to offer a feel of being underwater.

“The seats are made by the real shikara makers of Dal Lake. Easily 8 people can sit here. Just to give you the essence that you are sitting in a shikara and relishing your favourite food,” he said.

One such attraction is the aquarium which has exotic fishes in it. The ceiling has the wallpaper of the big and small fishes, if you move anywhere in the hall, you will feel that the fishes are watching you because of the 3D effect of the wallpaper.

In addition, here, servers dressed as sailors will attend a customer.

The restaurant is a multi-cuisine restaurant which serves some lip-smacking dishes. Thai food, Indian food, Chinese food, seafood including prawns and fishes from Delhi are being served. One can find a variety of naans and salads too.

“70% of the dishes in the menu are found here only. Some vegetarian dishes are also available here which you will not have at any other place,” said Kais.

Calling it a first step towards fine dining, he said, “People of all ages come here. This place is very calm and serene. One can relax and enjoy their food. Much more is yet to come. We have maintained the hygiene standard. When people come here, they love it,” he said.
