7,805 yatris set off from Jammu base camp

JAMMU, July 12:  The largest batch of Amarnath pilgrims, consisting of 7,805 yatris, embarked on their sacred pilgrimage from the Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp in Jammu on Wednesday morning. 
The enthusiastic yatris departed in a convoy of 339 vehicles, with 4,677 pilgrims scheduled to undertake the holy journey via the traditional Pahalgam route.
Among the pilgrims, a total of 3,128 yatris will undertake the yatra from the Baltal route, traveling in 132 vehicles. Additionally, 4,677 yatris will embark on the yatra from the Pahalgam route, making use of 207 vehicles.
The pilgrimage from the Pahalgam route will witness 3,537 males, 991 females, 34 children, 87 sadhus, and 28 sadhvis setting foot on the sacred journey. On the other hand, the Baltal route will be embarked upon by 2,293 males, 772 females, 33 sadhus, and 4 sadhvis.
