Jammu, Jan 03: The 23rd National Sqay championship which was organised by the SQAY Federation of India and hosted by the Jammu and Kashmir SQAY Association concluded at Indoor Stadium Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu successfully. The players from the host Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir performed exceptionally well and bagged 1st place in the overall medal tally, while Andhra Pradesh remained 2nd and Odisha clinched 3rd place in the championship.
The ‘champion of the champion’ title was lifted by Noor ul Haya of Jammu and Kashmir in the Senior Women’s category and Hanaya Nisar of J&K in the Junior girls’ category while Faizan Ahmad lifted the ‘champion of the champion’ title in the senior Men’s category.
Safeena Beigh Chairperson District Development Council Baramulla, Dr Pardeep Kumar ( IAS ) Director Archives, Archaeology and Museums J&K Government were the Chief Guests, Gazala Divisional Sports Officer (Central)J&K Sports Council, Junaid Mir President Workers Party were the guests of honour at closing/presentation ceremony.
Chief guests and the guests of honour while speaking on the occasion congratulated the participants drawn from 22 States for their active participation in Sports Activities.
Chairperson District Development Council congratulated the women participants for topping the medal tally.
Elaborate arrangements were put in place in respect of boarding and lodging and deployment of technical officials for running the championship in a smooth manner.
Secretary General SQAY Federation of India congratulated all participants and medal holders for taking part in this championship and in making this event a grand success.
