JAMMU, Nov 22: Two army officers and a jawan lost their lives, and another jawan sustained injuries during a fierce gunfight between security forces and terrorists in the Bajimaal area of Dharmsal, Rajouri District, Jammu region on Wednesday morning.
A senior Army officer disclosed that security forces had been engaged in joint search operations in the dense forests of Rajouri for nearly a month, acting on specific intelligence inputs about terrorist presence. The confrontation occurred at approximately 9:50 am on Wednesday when the security forces challenged the terrorists, triggering a relentless exchange of gunfire.
The intensity of the gunfight necessitated the reinforcement of additional forces to support the ongoing operation against the heavily armed terrorists, whose exact number remains uncertain, adding complexity to the situation.
During the fierce encounter, the two Army officers and a jawan lost their lives. A wounded Army Jawan was airlifted to Command Hospital, Udhampur, for advanced medical care.
Meanwhile, the White Knight Corps paid tributes to the martyred officers and the jawans. “The terrorists have been injured and surrounded and the operations are in progress,” the White Knight Corps said, while adding, “We salute the acts of valour and supreme sacrifice by our own bravehearts in trying to prevent collateral damage to women and children in the highest traditions of Indian Army”.
