120 trucks carrying livestock, poultry arrived in Kashmir since July 1: Director FCS&CA

“People should make purchases as per govt-announced rates only’

Srinagar, July 06: With the increasing demand for livestock in the Valley in view of the upcoming Eid-ul Adha, 50 trucks carrying livestock and 70 trucks carrying poultry have arrived in just the first five days of the month of July. 
This was revealed by, Dr. Abdul Salaam Mir, Director of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Kashmir.
He said that the import is expected to increase in the coming days because of the Eid-ul Adha festival.
 
“In view of the upcoming Eid-Ul-Adha festival there will be a demand in both livestock and poultry, and supply of same for the valley has been prioritized. So far, in this month, around 50 trucks of livestock and 70 trucks of poultry have arrived in the valley”, he said.
 
 
He further said that ahead of Eid-ul Adha, the ration for the month of July will be distributed from July 7.
 
 
“The ration will be available at all depots”, he said.
 
 
He said that concerning the enforcement and compliance towards announced government rates, apart from the existing teams, an additional twelve teams have been constituted for Srinagar city alone besides teams across all districts of the valley.
 
“We urge all to purchase the products, be it a bakery or sacrificial animals, on government-announced rates only and inform us on our given numbers in case of any rate violation.”
