Budgam, Sep 18:The government provided a high school for Saini Darwan village in the Charari-i-Sharief tehsil 10 years ago,but this government high school is still functioning in rented accommodation, where even basic facilities are not available for students.
Locals from the village told Rising Kashmir that the construction work on the school building has not been completed in the last five years, which is why the students are having so many problems at school.
Mushtaq Ahmad Meer, a resident of Sani Darwan village, told Rising Kashmir that his father donated 1.5 kanals of milkat land to the school education department in 2010 for the construction of the new school building in the village.
“It was promised to us that the government would provide compensation as well as employment for us,” Mir said.
He said that we did not have any objections to the government. The government should complete the pending work at the school on an immediate basis, so the students will get relief in the village and our surrounding areas.
We only demand compensation, not a source of employment. “The education department should first complete the pending work, which is also a top priority from our side, and after that, they should also provide the compensation to us,” he said.
“We are farmers by profession, and this land was the lone source of income for our family. That is a reason we are demanding compensation from the government, “he said.
Moazuma Manzoor, one of the 10 class students from the government school Sani Darwan, said that they do not have a playground where they can play games and can attend morning assembly prayers in the school. “We are attending the morning assembly in the public park. Where we can attend morning assembly prayers and can play games in the school,” she said.
She said that the construction work for the new school is still pending in the area. We want to pursue education in the village, but due to the various problems in the rented school building, the students are facing a lot of problems, which directly affect our education in the school.
Mustaq Ahmad Qadri, Chief Educational Officer, Budgam, said that I would look into this matter.
