Zeenat Ramzan, 21- year-old from Qaimoh, a town in Kulgam district in south Kashmir, is a passionate cricketer since her childhood. She played gully cricket, then at higher secondary, she was able to compete with other cricketers and captained her team at inter-school tournaments.
The young athlete aspires to represent and play for team India as wicket keeper.  Her journey to the cricketing world took off from district-level selection.
She played for Qaimoh Higher Secondary School and won the series for it. She was awarded women of the tournament for the inter-college series which was played between the Kashmir districts.
Zeenat also played a key role in the Chinar Women's Cricket League-2022 (3rd edition), which concluded last week.
As a college student, she said she divides her time between education and cricket. But, her passion is such that she dodged the exam and went to the JKCA trials last year.
"Last year I had to take the second-semester exam at GDC Women's Anantnag, I didn't join the exam instead I went for the cricket trials," Zeenat told Rising Kashmir. She was part of the J&K team in the talent hunt series.
“In addition to working on developing my skills, I am training my fellow students at Anantnag College and tutoring them for the upcoming inter-college tournament,” she said.
She is the sister of a famous commentator Waseem Raja. She says her brother has been supportive of her passion towards sports and is keen to see her sister achieve great heights in cricket.
